| Grace Avila | EXECUTIVE CHEF AND KITCHEN SHRINK We are thrilled to introduce Grace Avila, Pedro Point Creative’s very own Executive Chef and Kitchen Shrink. Grace is a culinary healer of sorts. She combines the joyful pleasure of cooking and eating with their curative powers for the body and soul. After completing a degree in economics and international business in 1982, Grace worked a three-year apprentice program to become a chef in Bruges, Belgium. Her career began in fine dining, working in restaurants, such as Star’s and Chez Panisse. She then accepted a job with Western Athletic Clubs as café manager for the Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood City. This gave Grace an opportunity to combine her interest in food with her interest in nutrition. Grace’s journey continued as a personal chef, assisting individuals with cancer by cooking for them and delivering food. This led to many opportunities for Grace to teach cooking classes focusing on easy preparation and nutrition. She received her certification as a nutrition educator and consultant after completing course work at the Institute for Educational Therapy in Berkeley. She is also a certified Cancer Guide, Food as Medicine instructor and is on the board of directors for the Libby Ross Foundation. Grace’s mission in partnership with Pedro Point Creative is to educate individuals and families on the importance of good nutrition for disease prevention and in the pleasures of cooking beautiful food. Grace is one of our neighbors in Pacifica with her two puppies, Maia & Laila. When she is not cooking and educating, she enjoys painting, writing poetry, hiking, and yoga.
